Rachael Finch (age 20) of Queensland was crowned as new Miss Universe Australia during miss Australia 2009 by former winner Laura Dundovic. The official crowning ceremony was at the Hilton Hotel on April 22, 2009 in Sydney, Australia.In the ceremony Finch beat 31 ladies.

She will represent her country in the 58th Miss Universe 2009 in the Bahamas. The pageant will be held at the Atlantis Paradise Island, in Nassau, Bahamas on August 30, 2009.
Miss Universe 2008, Dayana Mendoza of Venezuela, will crown her successor. About 80 countries and territories are expected to compete. The pageant will broadcast live on NBC and Telemundo.
